The Chorus does not seem to be on my side at the moment.

Imagine my frustration when I hear this being chanted as the sentry (just my luck that he’s less of an idiot the second time I try to bury Polynieces) leads me to receive my punishment from Creon:

When the laws are kept, how proudly his city stands!

When the laws are broken, what of his city then?

Never may the anarchic man find rest at my hearth,

Never be it said that my thoughts are his thoughts.

Why doesn’t anyone understand me?! A man’s eternal soul is at stake here!

I would like to visit the underworld, just to make sure Polyneices is alright. I worry about his spirit. Is he at rest? Is he being punished for starting a civil war (however justified it might have been)? Has he made any friends down there? Knowing my Uncle Creon, I have a feeling I may be joining him soon.

Has Obama Waged A War On Religion? : NPR

If you have a chance, read this article. It seems that Thebes is not the only country plagued by a debate over religion and government. I’m not familiar with Christianity and what their God demands from them, but as a Greek, I know we must honor the immortal, unrecorded laws of God. They are not merely now: they were, and shall be, operative forever, beyond man utterly. Creon will someday die, and his laws will die with him. May we not assume the same for Obama? It seems that his country could avoid this debate if everyone understood, as I do, that there is no wisdom but in submission to the gods.

Hah!

Those sentries are such idiots. Creon really ought to hire men that can at least stay awake while they’re on duty, not that it would have mattered in the end. Creon is not strong enough to stand in my way!
